Lead UMass: Leadership and the Law

Details

Hosted by: Lead UMass
When: Wednesday, November 28 2012, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Location: Campus Center 911
Category: Training/workshop

This interactive session explores the intersection of leadership and the law.  Leaders become powerful through the use of their proficiencies and characteristics while the law provides the framework within which that power can be exercised.  Effective leaders understand how they are most comfortable operating.  Further, they have an understanding of the legal sources they can rely on for the authority to exercise their powers, as well as the manner in which their powers may be constrained by the law.  We’ll discuss five sources of power, the legal authorities that relate to them, and the potential legal consequences of their abuse.

Lead UMass programs are open to ALL students regardless of past leadership skills or training and participation is FREE! All students who wish to participate in the Lead UMass certificate program should e-mail lead@umass.edu for more information or attend this workshop.
