True Life: I Hook Up

When: Wednesday, November 20 2013, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Location: Malcolm X Cultural Center
Category: Meeting

Hook Up Culture is described as a culture that accepts and encourages casual sexual encounters focused on physical pleasure without necessarily including emotional bonding. This phenomenon is especially common on college campuses. Hook Up culture is also associated, and occurs more often, in conjunction with drinking and drug-taking. For this reason, sexual assault of women can be considered a result of some aspects of hook up culture. This program will raise awareness of this issue. It will be comprised of a presentation by a representative from the Women of Color Leadership Network and a panel and group discussion of different subtopics of hook up culture.
